Insurance of our health: Glutathione

Glutathione, one of the most important molecules that keeps the body healthy, decreases with the aging process. Dr. Nergiz Van den Berk talked about ways to increase this molecule in the body.

Natural miracle glutathione, which is one of the indispensable forward players of our “biological inner balance” that resists harmful chemicals; powerful antioxidant… Consisting of 3 amino acids, cysteine, glycine and glutamic acid, in the liver, glutathione is essential for the balance and sine qua non of mitochondria that give energy to every cell. The cause of chronic diseases and cancer is the reversal of this balance. Especially, excessive consumption of food increases the workload of mitochondria, while junk foods loaded with sugar, flour/starch clog the system and impair the function of mitochondria. If mitochondria cannot meet the energy needs of cells, the risk of diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease may increase.

THE MOST POWERFUL ANTIOXIDANT

Toxins enter the body through the skin, lungs and intestines. The body has a very strong anti-toxin cleansing capacity to purify each toxin. The main task for this cleansing function is glutathione. Glutathione, which plays a leading role in the cleaning of toxins, decreases with the aging process. However, this situation can be reversed with proper nutrition and exercise.

Regular exercise activates our mitochondrial system and increases glutathione in the body. Foods that increase the glutathione level in the body can be listed as follows: Thistle, arugula, broccoli, cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, onions, garlic, cauliflower, mustard grass, radish, turnip, watercress, chickpeas, liver, lentils, spinach, avocado, beetroot, sunflower seeds, turkey meat, eggs, mushrooms, brown rice, cereals and trout.
