Varicose Veins Treatment

It is the process of entering the vein with a thin needle and giving the vein occlusive drug (sclerosing substance) in the form of liquid or foam, which is often applied to capillary and medium-sized (reticular) varicose veins. It is also known as varicose needle treatment. This drug shrinks and closes the vessels chemically for periods that can differ from patient to patient. After the treatment, the vessel closes immediately, but it takes time for the image to disappear completely. This period varies from person to person and sometimes it may take several months for the varicose to disappear completely. The larger the varicose, the longer it takes to disappear.

Foam therapy is used in which type of varicose veins?

Injection treatment for varicose veins is used in the treatment of both capillary varicose, medium varicose and large varicose veins. Its main use is the treatment of capillary varicose and medium varicose veins. These two groups are the most effective method in the treatment of varicose veins and are the first choice in treatment. Foamless sclerotherapy method is mostly preferred in the treatment of capillary varicose veins. But foam treatment can also be used. Laser or RF methods made from the skin can also be used in the treatment of capillary varicose veins, but their effectiveness is less than sclerotherapy.

It is always possible to completely remove medium-sized varicose veins with foam treatment. However, sometimes it may require more than one treatment session. The most important issue after this treatment is that the patients are patient. It can sometimes take several months to see the perfect effect of the treatment. This period is usually related to the person’s body and varies from person to person.

Needle treatment for varicose veins

The targeted varicose is entered with a needle under ultrasound guidance,

Foam medicine is given with a needle,

The foam seals that vein from the inside,

After a certain time, the varicose closes and then disappears.

Who cannot be treated with foam?

It is not applied to pregnant women, those with vascular occlusion, those who are allergic to the drug (sclerosing substance) used.

What is done in terms of preparation for processing?

If the procedure will be performed together with Laser-RF Ablation treatment, it does not require additional preparation. If it will be applied alone, you will need to bring with you a compression stocking or bandage recommended by your doctor.

The procedure takes about 30-45 minutes depending on the density of the varicose veins.

What are the risks of foam therapy?

Foam therapy is a treatment method with a very low risk. The most common problem is the formation of a light brown color on the skin (pigmentation) after treatment. This color problem may occur in one of every 10 patients treated. It may take a few months to disappear but eventually disappears completely. If the foam treatment is for capillaries, new capillaries may be seen in the treated area after the treatment. This happens in about one out of every 10 patients. Some may be permanent.

Does it require hospitalization or is it a daily procedure?

No hospitalization is required. The person comes to the treatment on foot and leaves the hospital on foot immediately after the treatment. When can I return to my daily life after treatment? In fact, you can return to your daily life even on the same day. We would especially like you to walk a little on the day of treatment. You can even start working the next day. However, after the procedure, pain of different intensity may develop in each body. We usually prescribe a pain reliever to each of our patients when they leave the clinic.

What is the frequency of follow-up/control after the procedure and what should be considered?

After the procedure, your doctor may call you for control at certain periods.

Inform your doctor in case of pain and swelling in the leg after the procedure.

After the procedure, continue to use the elastic bandage or compression stockings as recommended by your doctor.

You can take a shower the day after the procedure.

How many sessions of treatment are required to remove all varicose veins on the leg depends entirely on the density of the varicose veins on the leg. If varicose veins are very common, 4-5 treatment sessions may be required.

What is the success rate of foam treatment?

Approximately 60-70% of capillaries and 90% of medium-sized vessels are treated with foam treatment. In other words, even if all varicose veins are injected with a needle and foam medicine is given with a single treatment, it may not be possible for all varicose veins to disappear in one session. Foam treatment is the best method especially in the treatment of medium-sized green varicose veins and is extremely effective.
